Rhomboid minor
Back
Deep muscle — it lies under other muscles. X-ray makes the muscles over it see-through.
- Origin
- Spinous processes of C7 and T1
- Insertion
- Medial border of the scapula, at the root of the spine
- Action
- Retracts the scapula and rotates it downward
- Nerve supply
- Dorsal scapular nerve (C4–C5)
A narrow strip just above the rhomboid major, usually separated from it by a thin gap. The two work together to squeeze the shoulder blades toward the spine.
