Psoas major: bodies of T12 to L4 and transverse processes of L1 to L5; iliacus: iliac fossa
Insertion
Lesser trochanter of the femur
Action
Flexes the hip and the trunk

The main hip flexor, made of the psoas major and iliacus. It lifts the knee toward the chest in leg raises and sprinting. Use X-ray mode to see it behind the abdominal wall.
