Supinator
Arms
Deep muscle — it lies under other muscles. X-ray makes the muscles over it see-through.
- Origin
- Lateral epicondyle of the humerus, the elbow ligaments and the supinator crest of the ulna
- Insertion
- Outer surface of the upper third of the radius
- Action
- Supinates the forearm (turns the palm up)
- Nerve supply
- Deep branch of the radial nerve (C5–C6)
A broad muscle wrapped around the top of the radius. It turns the palm up together with the biceps, which adds much more force when the elbow is bent.
