Coccygeus

Hips & glutes

Deep muscle — it lies under other muscles. X-ray makes the muscles over it see-through.

Origin
Ischial spine and the sacrospinous ligament
Insertion
Side of the coccyx and the lowest part of the sacrum
Action
Supports the pelvic floor and pulls the coccyx forward
Nerve supply
Anterior rami of the sacral spinal nerves (S4–S5)

A triangular muscle at the back of the pelvic floor, behind the levator ani. Together they form the muscular floor that supports the pelvic organs.
